Mother Nature gave us a reprieve, allowing the river to get into shape just in time for the rescheduled 2025 Boxing Day Steelhead Derby.
5 fish were weighed into the Derby, with Rheece Metcalfe's 12.13lb doe taking first place. Including having his name scribed on the coveted Ferguson & Furnell perpetual trophy, Rheece also went home with a gorgeous Islander C5 Centrepin Reel.
There were a total of 293 entrants into this year's Boxing Day Steelhead Derby. Impressive considering the state the river has been in over the past month or so.
Here is the final leaderboard from the 2025 derby:
Rheece Metcalfe - 12.13lb Doe
Tyler Johansen - 10.91lb Doe
Ryan Hutchison - 9.66lb Doe
Stefan Kamner - 7.34lb Doe
Jimmy Power - 6.5lb Buck
Thank you to everyone who participated, with 100% of the proceeds going towards steelhead and salmon conservation and habitat restoration.
