Chilliwack Lake Spawning Gravel Augmentation
This year, thanks to the donations raised during the Wally Hall Memorial Fishing Derby- supported by Fred’s Custom Tackle, and financial contributions from the Recreational Fisheries Conservation Partnership Program, and in-kind support from DFO, MOE, TS’ELXWÉYEQW Tribe, FVWC directors and community volunteers, the spawning gravel augmentation at Chilliwack Lake outlet was completed.
This project involved the hauling of natural Chilliwack/Vedder River gravels and placing them at the outlet for the indigenous chinook salmon, and of course other salmonids and steelhead to use for spawning grounds. In total 1,989 square meters (approximately the size of 1 hockey rink) of improved habitat was created!
So - THANK YOU all, the contributions, knowledge and support are greatly appreciated.
